"headline": "September Consumer Prices Rose 0.6 Percent",
"script": "Prices rose faster in September. On Wednesday the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers increased 0.6 percent, after rising 0.4 percent in August. Those are seasonally adjusted monthly changes. Over the 12 months through September the index is up 3.7 percent before seasonal adjustment, versus 3.4 percent for the year ending in August. Gasoline rose 9.1 percent over the month and accounted for more than half the all-items increase. The energy index rose 5.2 percent. Shelter rose 0.4 percent. Food was unchanged: food away from home rose 0.2 percent, and food at home fell 0.1 percent. The core index, which leaves out food and energy, rose 0.3 percent in September and 2.6 percent over the year. Energy is up 20.4 percent over those 12 months. Food is up 2.5 percent.",
